Do you have to watch the previous Terminator films to appreciate 'Terminator Salvation'?

I want to see the new movie, but I've only seen one of the earlier films and that was years ago so I barely remember anything. Would I have to watch those before watching Salvation, or does it pretty much stand on its own?
