What can get rid of a snail infestation?

my aquarium has been overtaken by snails!!! i have 2 guppys, 3 neons, 3 elders and 2 in snails. all of a sudden.......................loads of snails have appeared (not in ones)!! my tank is about 2 months old. how can i get rid of them?? i also notice what i think is a worm or 20.....thread like.......HELP!!!!!
