In my condition, should I get contacts?

I was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma when I was 4 months old. I had to have surgery and havent had any problems out of my eyes since. I am now 16 and just went to the eye doctor and he said my eyes were perfectly healthy. I really hate my gles and they get in the way with my athletics. I dont kno if i should get contacts or not!! Some eye doctors say yes and some say no. What do I do?!
