Hello. : ) In this case, the black male has a genotype of BB, and the female has a genotype of YB- constructing an inheritance grid (there's a better name for it, I just forget at the moment), we get 50% BB and 50% YB- so 50% black and 50% tortoise-shell. Notice that there is no recessive or dominant allele- when both alleles affect the phenotype- it's called co-dominance. : )
